10 Weeks and Counting!

Today I am 10 weeks into my pregnancy. I am so happy to report that, to this day, I have not had ANY morning sickness! *knock on wood* I feel absolutely wonderful! If it weren't for the constant hunger, occasional heartburn, and chronic peeing I wouldn't even suspect that I am pregnant. I have heard so many horror stories from family and friends about nasty 1st trimester symptoms and I feel so blessed to not have experienced any of them thus far.

Anyway, at this point (according to the pregnancy book I'm reading) Baby Leonberg is about the size of a small plum and is looking more and more human like with every day. Last week she/he was supposedly about the size of a medium green olive and still a little alien-like. It cracks me up how this book compares the baby's size each week to some sort of food. Next week (week 11) we will be entering the fetal period (as opposed to the embryonic period) and according to the book little Leonberg will be the size of a large lime. Apparently most malformations occur during the embryonic period (the first 10 weeks), so I'll be glad to jump this hurdle.

I can't wait to go back in a couple of weeks and see how much the baby has grown! From the way my pants are starting to "fit" (if you can call it that) i'm expecting some major growth by the next ultrasound! I've only gained a couple of pounds, but it's definitely starting to show. I'm sad to say that I have resorted to wearing some of my older, "next size up" jeans. Even these jeans are starting to get a little tighter, so I broke down and made my first shopping trip to the maternity section this afternoon. While I couldn't force myself to purchase any elastic-waisted pants, I did buy several tops, a couple of sun dresses, and the most awesome invention ever--a belly band! The band allows me to wear my pre-pregnancy jeans unbuttoned so I can be a little more comfortable, but still holds eveything in. Afterall, I'm not quite ready psychologially for the whole maternity pant situation!

Exciting News!

Craig and I were VERY surprised last week when we got some exciting news! We found out that we are pregnant!


We had not planned to go home to Clover for the Mother's Day weekend, but upon learning this news, we decided that it would be an amazing gift to give our moms for Mother's day. Plus, I doubt I would have been able to keep it quiet for very long. So we traveled to Clover and kept the news a secret from everyone.


Saturday afternoon we took the family out for lunch--a belated birthday lunch for my sister Erin, an early Mother's Day lunch for the moms, and an early Father's Day lunch for my dad. At the end of the meal the waitress brought a cake to the table. Seeing as it was just a couple days after my sister's birthday nobody really thought twice about it. However, to everyone's surprise the cake was not a "Happy Birthday Erin" cake... it was a "Special Delivery... Baby on Board" cake! It was so cool to watch everyone's faces as they read the cake and finally figured it out! The mom's (naturally) began crying... my sister started shouting... and my dad was grinning from ear to ear! How perfect!


We decided to wait until after our first ultrasound to tell the rest of our family and friends. Craig and I went to the doctor this afternoon. Let me tell you... what a cool experience! We were told that we were 8 weeks and 6 days along and that the baby is due on December 17th! It's amazing how they are able to figure that out! The baby measured 2.24 centimeters from crown (top of head) to rump (bum). The baby's heartrate was about 180 beats per minute which we were told is very good. We got to watch the baby wiggle around and see and hear its little heart race. It truly was one of the coolest things I have ever seen!

Enjoying the Views!

Craig and I spent yesterday evening kayaking on Patrick Henry Lake. We had a great time relaxing on the water and taking in all of the beautiful views! I just LOVE this time of year!

Misty's Baby Shower

Saturday was my good friend Misty's baby shower. Misty and her husband Rob are expecting their first child, a little girl named Maelen, in a couple of months. Craig and I are so happy for them both and we just can't wait to meet Maelen in person!

An Evening at Barter...

Last Saturday Craig and I spent the evening at the Barter Theater. This time we went to see 'Of Mice and Men'. We were both excited about the play since it is such a classic story. As usual, the theater troupe did an amazing performance.



I remembered most of the story from reading the book as a kid, so I wasn't too surprised to leave the theater feeling sad. We usually go to Barter to see musicals and comedies, so this play was a little depressing by comparison. I can't wait to go back to our next show... it will definitely have to be a comedy!

9 Years and Counting!

Today marks the 9th anniversary of my first date with Craig... it's amazing how quickly that time seems to have passed yet how long it really has been. We haven't celebrated or even kept up with our dating anniversary in a very long time, but for some reason when I realized that this year marked 9 for us I felt it appropriate.

For those of you who don't know Craig and I became friends our senior year of high school. At some point along the way our friendship grew into a major crush! And that's where things changed forever for us.I can't believe how lucky I am... not everyone is lucky enough to find their partner in life... not everyone is lucky enough to have a partner that is their best friend... and not everyone is lucky enough to find that person at 16 like I did!

We've been able to share so many milestones in life together... prom, graduating high school, going away to college, starting careers, buying a home. We've been there for each other through the good and the bad... loss of grandparents, family illnesses, marriages of friends. We've watched the world change, just as we've watched each other change and grow into the people we are today. And through all of these changes and events in life our love has continued strong... how lucky are we!
It amazes me to think of how far we have come and I am so excited to find out what life has in store for us next! So, here's to the last 9 years of life, love, and memories and the lifetime yet to come! Love always!

What Do You Guys Think?!?

The other day when Craig went to the bank one of the employees had the following conversation with him...

"I'm sure you've heard this a million times before... you've got a famous life twin." --bank lady
"Who's that?" --Craig
"Josh Turner!" --bank lady
"Who's that?" --Craig
"He's a country singer." --bank lady
"Oh..." --Craig

When Craig told me about this conversation I too had no idea who Josh Turner was. So, I googled him to check out my honey's life twin... after all the idea of being married to a famous person's life twin was a little intriguing.

I must admit though I don't really see the similarity. What do you guys think?
