1 Month!

Owen turned 1 month old last Wednesday and earlier today we headed to the pediatrician’s office for his 1 month well check!

At the doctor’s visit Owen measured 10 lbs. 5 oz. (60th percentile) and 22 3/4 in. long (85th percentile).  Dr. Reinhardt seemed to be pretty smitten with him… perhaps that was due to all of the sweet smiles he kept flashing at her!  She said that he looks good, is meeting all developmental milestones, and gave him a clean bill of health!

I know this sounds cheesy, but Owen is such a joy to be around!  He continues to be a very relaxed, even-tempered baby.  He eats and sleeps well and seems to have fallen into a pretty nice routine at home.  He’s most definitely a happy and healthy baby!  And what more could any parent ask for than that?

Wall Mounts, Caulk & All The Trimmings!

I’m very excited to say that a great deal of progress has been made on our little built-in project in the family room since I last posted about it over a month ago.

Here’s a quick picture to remind you of what things looked like before we started the project

Well, here’s a picture of where we are with it now!

So what all have we (and by “we” I actually mean “Craig”) done?

Well, he added trim to the shelves (to cover the brown, unfinished edges),

…filled all of the cracks with caulk (and finished things off with his handy little finishing tool),…

What a HUGE difference these small changes have made! Can’t wait to finish the last few details (add shoe molding, touch up the paint, install cabinet hardware) and fill the shelves!

Fun Fest-ivities

Every summer the city of Kingsport hosts a week-long, city-wide festival called Fun Fest.  Basically, every day during the week of Fun Fest different events are held all over the city.  The best part is that most of the events are family-friendly and free… two of my favorite words!

Unfortunately, the timing of Fun Fest has never really worked out well for us in the past.  So, we were very excited this year to get the chance to check out one of the festival’s largest attractions… the hot air balloons!

Every year, one of Kingsport’s busiest streets is shut down to make room for dozens of hot air balloons (from all over the South East) to be set up and launched over the skies of Kingsport.  Unlike other hot air balloon rallies I’ve been to in the past, this event was unique in the fact that the public is not only invited to come out and watch, but they are welcome to touch the balloons and even climb into the baskets for pictures.  While Bailey wasn’t quite brave enough to climb into one of the balloons, she still seemed to really enjoy herself!

We spent a couple of hours just walking around, watching the balloons being inflated, and taking in all of the sights.

There were so many beautiful balloons to look at and enjoy… with the exception of the Clemson balloon that was inflated right before our eyes, of course (Go Gamecocks!).

And as the evening went on and the sun began to set it was really beautiful to watch the warm glow of the balloons as they lit up the street!

Definitely a fun way to spend an evening with the family.  Can’t believe we’ve never made it to this event before.  You better believe we’ll make it back next year!

Owen Photo Dump

Sorry it’s taken me so long to post some new pictures of Owen.  It’s hard to believe that it’s already been more than 3 weeks since his arrival.  We’ve been staying pretty busy with visits from family and adjusting to life with two kids.  So far things are going really well and it’s hard to imagine life without this sweet little guy!

Sorry again for taking so long with the pictures.  I promise I’ll try not to take so long in the future!

Happy Birthday Owen!

We are very excited to announce that our baby boy, Owen, finally arrived on Wednesday, June 27th.  He was born weighing a whopping 9 lbs. 5.8 oz. and measuring 21.5 in. long!  Talk about a BIG BOY!

DSCN2724

Since Owen was in no hurry to make an appearance (he was born at 40 weeks and 6 days) we had no choice but to have a repeat c-section, which made me more than a little nervous.  Thankfully, all of the anxiety rushed away the second Owen was born and I laid eyes on that sweet, chubby face!

I was smitten… no… I was in LOVE!

And I’m pretty sure Craig felt the same way!

Bailey was a little unsure of things at first.

But by the end of the visit she had warmed up for sure!
