Elton John & Billy Joel... Face to Face!

Last Saturday Craig and I were lucky enough to get tickets to the sold out Elton John & Billy Joel Face to Face concert in Charlotte. We had both seen Elton John in concert before, but never Billy Joel... and we were totally excited to see them perform together!

Here's the view from our seats in the nosebleed section... not the best, but at least we had tickets.

And here are a few videos for you all to enjoy. They opened together, then took turns playing some of their songs individually, and then closed by playing together again. The show was 3 1/2 hours and totally worth every penny we paid for our crappy seats! Unfortunately, the battery on our camera died before the show was over, so I didn't get the closing song... an amazing co-performance of Piano Man.

Seeing these two together in concert is one more thing off of my '100 things to do in my lifetime' list... 14 down/86 to go!

Artsy Fartsy!

My entire life I have wanted to be an artist... in fact my first of many majors in college was fine arts. After realizing how much I despise art history and how hard of a time so many artists have paying their bills I decided to shift my aspirations in another direction.

Through high school and college I have worked with a variety of mediums, however I never really had many opportunities to work in ceramics. So I was totally excited to have discovered some adult art classes being offered at the William King Regional Arts Center in Abingdon, Virginia. I immediately signed up for the 6-week clay class and just can not wait until it starts on March 17!

Who knows... maybe I'll turn into one of those hippy-dippy-trippy artists after all!

Snow, Snow, and More Snow...

We were quite surprised when we woke up this morning to find out that we got about 2 inches of snow last night... I guess we shouldn't really be surprised since we seem to get at least a small flurry every week! I guess this latest snow means that the groundhog was in fact right... several more weeks of winter to come.

As usual, Sydney was quite pleased... I think playing in/eating mouthfulls of snow may be his very favorite thing to do!

Hooray for Baby Kenneth!

On Monday, January 26th, my dear friends in Charlotte, Sarah and Jim, welcomed their first baby, James Kenneth Robinson into the world! Kenneth arrived weighing a whopping 9 lbs. 7 oz. and measuring 21.25 inches in length! Thankfully my sister Erin forwarded me pictures of Kenneth after her visit to the hospital today. Isn't he just adorable!

The new Mommy and Daddy...
...and, of course, Aunt Erin!
I'm so happy for you guys and can't wait until I get to meet Kenneth in person too!

Congrats Mr. & Mrs. Falls!

This weekend was Mike and Kim's wedding in Richmond, VA. No matter what I tried my pictures came out really dark. So for better pictures check out Holly or Kristy's blogs.

Happy 2009!

Craig and I rang in the new year at the Kingsport Grocery Company... a great restaurant/bar that recently re-opened in downtown Kingsport. KGC has great food and serves over 150 microbrews... the perfect place to spend New Year's Eve.

The first floor of the KGC featured a live band...

the second floor had a 70's/80's DJ with dancefloor...

and the third floor was a relaxing lounge...

We had so much fun. I was surprised to see how many people turned out and am so happy that Kingsport FINALLY has a nightlife! Hope you all also had a great New Year's Eve and hope that you all have a happy and healthy 2009!
