Saturday & Sunday…

…turned out to be a couple of fun days!

Saturday, while Craig was finishing up our recessed lighting and starting work on installing a vent for our cooktop (more on these projects later), I decided to take Bailey and Sydney downtown to the first annual Pets in the City festival.  We were hoping to make it in time to see the “Flying High” frisbee dogs, but unfortunately we missed them.  As disappointing as that was though, Bailey and Sydney both seemed just as happy to walk around and visit with all of the other dogs.  In fact, Bailey had to have yelled “Oooohhh…. Puppy!!!” over two hundred times while we were there!

I had a difficult time snapping pictures seeing as I had my hands full (one pushing Bailey’s stroller and the other holding Sydney’s leash), but I did manage to get a couple.  As you can tell from the ones I took, Bailey and Sydney were far more interested in the other dogs than they were in having their pictures taken.

After walking around the festival for a while we took a leisurely stroll through downtown, to Glen Bruce Park, and then back home.

Once home, we headed right back outside for me to do a little gardening and for Bailey to play in the sprinkler in the front yard.  Think of it as some pre-Bermuda, fun-in-the-sun practice time!

Sunday, Craig joined Bailey and I for a picnic at Riverfront Park (part of Kingsport’s Greenbelt walking trail).  After finishing our lunch we spent some time feeding the geese and ducks, which Bailey really seemed to enjoy!

What a fun weekend with the family.  Too bad tomorrow’s Monday and that means back to work.

Best Buddies!

Bailey ABSOLUTELY loves Sydney... she gets so excited when she sees him... smiling and reaching out to pet him!

...and he MOST CERTAINLY loves her too... he's never very far away... always looking out for her!

There will be no separating these two once Bailey begins crawling and walking... he's DEFINITELY her best buddy!

Too Cute...

Sydney decided to curl up in my lap and cuddle with Bailey while she was kicking away in my belly this afternoon! He just layed there for 10-15 minutes snuggling with her!
I think he's really looking forward to having a little sister and he's going to be a very good puppy brother! What a sweet boy he is!

Sydney's a Graduate!

For the past 6 weeks Sydney has been enrolled in a beginner's obedience class. Sydney's teacher, Judy Pinkevich, is the Training Director for the Greater Kingsport Kennel Club and she is awesome! She can train a dog to do anything! Over the past 6 weeks Sydney has learned sit, down, stay, come, heal (in a circle and figure 8), wait, finish, pass, shake, high five, and a few pieces of agility equipment. We also cured his little jumping "problem" in a matter of 2 minutes! Anyway, tonight was the last of the beginner's classes. For all of his hard work Judy gave Sydney a new chew toy and a lovely diploma. We're so proud of our little guy... he's growing up so fast!
We're both VERY excited to begin the advanced obedience and perhaps agility classes in the coming months!

Crafty!

This weekend I decided to dust off the good ole' sewing machine and make use of some fabric I had lying around. I decided to make a bed for Sydney. I think the project turned out wonderfully... Sydney most definitely agrees!
What a happy boy!

The Newest Leonberg!

Craig and I FINALLY decided to get a dog! We have been debating this decision for many months now. With my new job and reduced work hours we figured that this was as good a time as ever to expand our little family.

Saturday, we found this little guy at the Hawkins County Humane Society. He is an 8 week old Australian Shepherd mix. We decided to name him "Sydney" in honor of his Aussie roots. We were so lucky to find him... he truly is a WONDERFUL puppy! He doesn't bark, hasn't had a single accident in the house, doesn't chew excessively, and overall is a VERY calm puppy! Plus, he is just beautiful! We are so happy to have him!

It's amazing how quickly I feel that my quality of life has increased over the past week. I'm not sure if it's the new job or the new puppy... perhaps a little of both. No matter what has caused the change I feel so much more relaxed and much happier each day!
